Welcome to the website of the lodge of sportsmen 9823 in the province of Northumberland where freemason’s who are of sports minded meet to enjoy each others friendship and company along with enjoying a meal while discussing sports activity.

About Lodge of Sportsmen

The lodge was conceived and formed after a number of charity football matches were arranged between Northumberland and Durham. The prime movers were W.Bro Bill Gibson Former Chairman of Gateshead F.C. and Vice President of Redheugh Boys Club, Chris Emmerson and W Bros Michael Lightley (the first almoner prominent senior non league footballer).

The Lodge has enjoyed a number of eminent Freemason’s as members including our current P.G.M very worshipful Bro Ian Craigs, W Bro Gordon Scullard, WBro David Jeffcock Past Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, Bro Eric Hall (Former Director of Gateshead F.C.) and Alan Young.

Easy to use and customize

Our Current Membership is 22 (Twenty Two). We meet on the Tue 1st Friday in December, March (Installation) June & September commencing 7:00pm. The lodge was consecrated on the 16th March 2007, the first Worshipful Master was W Bro David Hands, Senior Warden W Bro Jim Allan, Junior Warden W Bro Bill Gibson. We have a unique dress code of blazers carrying a Badge or Motif of the preferred sport we have enjoyed over the years in the company of Malcolm McDonald, John Gibson (Sports Editor) Doug Weatherall (Writer & Columnist) and Barry Hanson (Radio Commentator).
